“The Quiet Hour”

When twilight leans on rooftop eaves,
And wind combs gently through the leaves,
A hush arrives, so soft, so slow,
Like shadows spilled from candle-glow.

The world, once loud with day’s bright pace,
Now slips into a gentler place.
The stars begin their silver song,
And time forgets where it belongs.

So breathe — let go of all you chase,
And find your heart a quiet space.
For in the still, the soul can see
The world as it was meant to be.

Mechanical Pencils

The history of the mechanical pencil began with a basic lead holder in 1565 and the earliest extant example of a mechanical pencil was found on the HMS Pandora shipwreck in 1791. The first patent for a lead-propelling mechanism was granted in 1822 to Sampson Mordan and John Isaac Hawkins in Britain. Key developments include the addition of the spring-loaded mechanism in 1877 and the invention of the modern “Ever Ready Sharp” pencil by Tokuji Hayakawa around 1906, which helped popularize the device

Protractor

The history of the protractor spans at least five centuries, with a formal description by Thomas Blundeville in 1589, though earlier angle-measuring devices existed and were used by navigators and astronomers as far back as the 13th century. By the early 17th century, the tool was crucial for navigation and surveying. Specialized three-arm protractors were developed in the 19th century for more precise navigation, and by the 20th century, the protractor had become a common tool in mathematics education
